Assignment One – Corrections
I think it’s always difficult to receive feedback on what you have done, especially when you were really proud of your work, I always appreciate the help and comments to improve my work, but it can be disconcerting and make you feel like you don’t want to do the next one because in your head it’ll already be rubbish, before you have even tried. I feel like that with the majority of my images anyway, but I understand where he was coming from and you always have to pick yourself up and try again.
Here are the following are the corrections I have made in response to my tutors feedback;
My tutor suggested that there wasn’t enough variety as the assignment suggested, and to include a shot of Andreea inside. So here is a picture taken whilst she was at work, with one of her colleagues, inside, with flash and low lighting casting shadows.

This captures Andreea’s spirit perfectly, which is why I
used this for the corrections.
RED DOOR; - As mentioned in my assignment, it was extremely
difficult to get the shot without me being in it. I had trouble trying to get
the vertical and horizontal lines lined up whilst taking the image and in post
production, I tried to line up the vertical lines, however, it looked like
Andreea was on a tilt, so I had to line it up at the bottom where the black
tiles were

I do like this one photograph but I didn’t include this shot in my assignment, due to the lack of clarity, also I found an umbrella that had no material on it and thought it would be fun to include it, however, I couldn’t really see the spikes as well as I thought I would.

I was also contemplating this image as I liked the lighting and the stance, however, I found the shadow of the end of one of the umbrellas, reflecting on her face very distracting and I had difficulty cloning it out.

I love this image, and again wanted to include it, but
somehow, I couldn’t get the pole to line up straight, without the background
being off kilter, this is the best I could do, unfortunately.
REFLECTIONS; - My tutor suggested a tighter crop and including more wisps of hair.

I
like this one, and didn’t include it in the original assignment, as I thought
the wisps of hair were distracting, I also wanted to include the Shard. So the
next image has more of the hair but include the shard as well.

So this one has both, but I actually agree about the
light above, with the eyes being sunken. In this case, I prefer the close up
shot.
NAUGHTY DOG;- I realise what my tutor was suggesting when
he was saying about the light, however, where the graffiti was positioned, it
would have been impossible to shoot at sunset etc, as the sun was in the wrong direction,
but I should have used reflectors.

I think this image shows Andreea’s true spirit and
character, I love how it’s bright and fresh, again I chose not to use this as
it’s not as sharp as I would have liked.
HAPPY; - My tutor suggested an image where she was sideways and looking at me. I chose to not include this one as I prefer her smile in the other one. But I do like this one too.

I think the images in my original assignment, reflect Andreea’s spirit somewhat, however, I think these corrections reflect her a lot better. As she is a bubbly and beautiful woman, but she can also be serious.
With regards as to whether or not these images are more fashion orientated, I suppose on reflection I had in the back of my mind something along those lines, rather than exhibition orientated. I just hope this module can help me get the images I would like for an exhibition.
