P&P-Assignment Three; Corrections

Assignment Three – Corrections

Again, I am really pleased with my feedback, as always there are things I need to work on but overall I feel I have done really well in this assignment. I worked really hard on this one and will continue to do so.

Here are the following are the corrections I have made in response to my tutors feedback.

Jam factory

Going back to the privacy laws as my tutor mentioned with regards to the health and safety, I was on my own when photographing the factory. I feel that when I am doing my assignment or any imagery, I prefer to be on my own so I can really focus on the task at hand and take my time. I did inform my mother and father as to where I was, in case anything happened, as I said in my assignment with regards to the uneasiness that I felt  I was a bit concerned about being there on my own as I had anticipated it.
I did not have permission to be there, however as I had seen images of this building I knew there would be an easy accesses point, which there was as the gate was wide open, I will bear this in mind if choosing to photograph a derelict building again.

The Shard

Image 2 - Here are two images in which I was debating to include.

This image is better for not having the darker images in the left hand corner. I chose not to use this particular one as the image is not as sharp and it was still very light outside, so I thought the contrast of the image did not fit well with the assignment.

I really want to include this image and it was a tossup between this one and the one I actually used. In the end I did not use this one as I felt there was too much of the top and bottom of the building in the frame and not enough people, also there were not as many people with their cameras or I-phones.

Image 3 – I totally agree with the point about the people, however as I could not be in that area on my own and as I was with the building manager I was on a time frame that he had to stick to. I have amended the original image to bring out the people below a bit more.

I highlighted the people with a mask and fill paint brush, the people in the dark corners are still not that visible, but because the man who is lit up is more visible, your eye leads to the others a bit more.

Image 4 – I agree with my tutor’s idea about having someone looking outwards from the side, unfortunately though due to the barriers there is no access to that area, a lot of the time you could not go near the edge due to health and safety reasons.

Cottage

Image 2 – The ISO I used for this image was 400, due to my camera restraints I could not put it up any higher as the noise in the image would have been evident.

Image 3 – I agree that the image does not “sit” well within the set of images, something that I did not realise until it was pointed out. I have included the image again where I have changed the colour temperature.

This is defiantly a better image for the set as it is not so intense and gives a better representation of the room.

Borough market

Again, I have captured an image with a dark clump of people in the bottom left hand corner. I debated between the image I used and the one below, I chose to not use this one due to the clarity of the picture.

Even though there are people in the left hand corner, they are not so clumped together, or in a “blur”. As I said before this image was not the sharpest and it is too over exposed. I think motion blur could have worked here and will consider using that form for other assignments.

The O2

I feel I should have used motion blur to the last image, however I think the other images benefit from a freeze frame. I contacted the O2 with regards to letting me photograph other areas and was denied in this case. I will keep trying to pursue it and see what they say in the future but as always, I think it is the people who you know, not what you know that can help you get what you want or need.
