Exercise;
Experimenting with light
I have to take between four-six standard head and shoulders
portraits with different lighting effects, I chose to do the following;-
- Shade
- Sunlight
- Reflective
- Dappled
1st Shade
1; 1/60 seconds at f/7.1
This was taken under the shade of a tree; I think I
managed to get a good amount of light by using a slower shutter speed, but
keeping the clarity of the face by keeping the f-stop low.
2; 1/320 seconds at f/7.1
I wanted to use strong sunlight to see how the image
would look and what challenges I would have taking this image. It was difficult
to make her not look completely washed out on one side and dark on the other.
She still looks a bit washed out, but you can still see the contours of her
face.
3; 1/40 seconds at f/7.1
I love this image, it is exactly the image I had in my
head, I wanted to achieve clarity of her reflection in the door, the day was
cloudy and I thought I would need bright sunlight, however, the cloud cover
proved quite useful, as there wasn’t an overpowering light, I believe the cloud is what
achieved the clarity.
4; 1/80 seconds at f/7.1
